Regarded as an expert on emerging immigrant communities, Luna Ranjit ensures that underrepresented voices, including those of Nepali-speaking women, are at the center of organizing and advocacy efforts, particularly for immigrant rights, domestic workers, nail salon workers, labor trafficking, and language justice. She has extensive experience in organizing, activism, and participatory action research in the US and South Asia. She regularly appears on print and broadcast media. Luna is a co-founder of the New York Healthy Nail Salon Coalition, and serves as an advisory group member of the National Healthy Nail and Beauty Salon Alliance. Prior to Adhikaar, she worked at Andolan, APICHA, and New Voices National Fellowship Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, and a master’s degree in public and international affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.She is a member of the Class of 2013-2014 Asia 21 Young Leaders, a group of Asian/Asian American emerging leaders under 40 chosen for their outstanding achievements, their promise for the future, and their commitment to public service. She currently lives in Jackson Heights, Queens.
